Deathspell Omega's stuff is pretty heavily reliant on its atmosphere so yes, I think you won't be disappointed...

cool review Tyr!
need to check this, although that ultra-hot summer temperature prevents any black metal from listening
|
| |
Haha yes I can imagine you not wanting to listen to something called 'Drought' when it's already hot as hell haha
|
| |
It's about time it became hot as hell around here!
I listened to the song, it's cool. I'll wait till I listen to it in the lonely nighttime before I really make up my mind about it. ;]

Karl is losing his hearing. This sounds nothing like Paracletus.

i listened to some of this a while ago but i remember thinking the more melodic parts were really good and the rest was kind of meh. i'll give it another listen. as far as black metal i've really been digging the new der weg einer freiheit.

What have you heard by them besides this?

Thanks Kyle!
Yay Sobhi!
And Angel I wouldn't say that. I mean the more aggressive songs on this EP definitely sound, at the
very least, like a continuation of Paracletus' aesthetic approach to BM.

been listening to them all last night and today. paracletus is sick, fas, si monumentum, diabolus, chaining, kenose, and mass grave aesthetics. very impressed with everything so far!

tried to get into these guys on their last album in couldnt. for me it was just much going on and sounded like a chaotic mess. is that the DSO sound or does it just takes time to enjoy these guys?

you're not listening right

yeah their rhythm section is all over the place on heavier passages for sure. love those drums.
|

It did take me quite a while before I could listen to one of their albums from start to finish... But that's just my personal experience.
You can't really have Deathspell Omega without this 'chaotic mess' tbh... Even though after a while it stops sounding chaotic as you start to see the patterns in the songs and it all begins to make sense.
