My first thought upon seeing this review: some italics would be nice.

Just read the review. No offense mate, but holy crap, do you actually not talk about ANY of the songs on this review? And do seven of the eight paragraphs actually begin with the word "Fiona"?!

@Irving Thanks man, when I originally wrote the review on Tumblr I had the album names I mention italicized and what not, but when I copy and pasted the review to sputnik the italics disappeared, so thanks for telling me how to do that.

@Irving And yeah, looking back I really should of had some differentiation in the beginnings of my paragraphs. I'm also going to start mentioning tracks in my reviews now, since you and a lot of other people have suggested it.

@Troggy Yeah, I do have issues with length, lol. My writing style could use some trimming. Your advice won't go unheeded, always trying to improve. :D

Just read the review. No offense mate, but holy crap, do you actually not talk about ANY of the songs on this review? Just my opinion, but if you can give an overall impression of the album without revealing any song-specific traits, then all the better. That's what I try to do with every review -- let the listener discover the song-specifc stuff on their own (although if I'm having a hard time or feeling lazy, I'll mention specific songs).
I think it's a fine review, albeit a bit long.

@Willie My philosophy exactly. I prefer to attempt aiming for an in general overview of the album as a whole. I do need to work on summarizing my reviews more though, I'm just paranoid that I'll make it too short and people will deem it a soundoff lol.

Well that's all fine and good if you can convey a sense of the album without using any particular song as an example (that being said, logic does dictate that to complete one's argument as to the merits/demerits of an album, an example would needed and songs are that example).
This "review" (inverted commas because I don't think it should qualify as a review at all), on the other hand, reads more like a random crazy quilt on reasons why the writer thinks Fiona Apple is generally a good artist. It's more like a treatise on Fiona Apple the person as opposed to a discussion of The Idler Wheel...'s merits as a work of art. Don't get me wrong, there's some solid points on here worth spending time on as part of a greater analysis of the album but the way they are presented here, they could have been applied to almost any one of her works. To that end, and because I think this review's sentence structure repeats itself in the absolute extreme, I am of the opinion that this is not a very good write-up. No disrespect mate - just my two cents.

I disagree. If you're trying to convince people of your position on an album and those people have heard the album then you could use songs to back it up. But a review should really be geared towards those that haven't heard the album already, in which case, specific song examples are nothing more than faceless
(soundless) titles to the reader.

You're trying to squeeze him into your standards and guidelines of how a review should work. This is the kind of review that any long-time Fiona fan would probably be happy to read. It fits this album into the overarching context of her entire career, and even though there aren't enough specifics about the album (for you)
the tone of the write-up makes up for it by leaving no doubt that the album is worth picking up.
