Yeah. Imagine that those were hard times for Anathema because Duncan Patterson, who was a songwriting force, had left the band a little earlier. They just bittered their wine and drunk it all.

Hot take, Anathema's songwriting improved dramatically after Patterson left (correlation not causality, as they refer to him as easily the most competent writer in their early period)
