Unsure about that math, but it seems as good as any other reasoning.

Solid review Davey. One thing: the semicolon at the end of the first paragraph should probably be a colon.

Unfortunately, I'm not too interested in this, but I don't think that comes as a surprise to you haha.

EDIT: and in all honesty, the review does read a lot more like a 2 or a 2.5

Yeah, that colon vs semi-colon query was one I looked at a couple of times. It might have even been safer staying away from both.

Re: the rating, I guess that's where people knowing the reviewer & their personal taste comes in handy. Not only am I a kind soul, but I'm a rather mainstream one. ;-)

And of course I know that, Davey pie. What I meant was that this piece is rather critical by your standards and finds more cons than it finds pros in the album, and judging by that, you should've rated this lower than a 3 ;).

I disagree - the second paragraph describes the album positively for the most part.

I dunno, man. He says that the production sucks, the vocals are great on only two tracks, there's an evident lack of grit and that the album is appealing only on a sporadic basis. I do see that he compliments some songs, but he still finds more negative aspects than positive ones.

Never liked these guys too much although the self-titled was good. Probably not gonna listen to this.

I had one hyphenated word noted next to 'World Collide': "chorus-reliant". Solid chorus, but absolutely nothing else to get excited over imo. Kind of sounds like a 'Potters Field' song... Hehe.

I find it to be the musically best song on here as well. I don't see the Potter's Field comparison but yeah, as I said, that one is my favorite mainly because they stayed away from doing very many ballads on that album.

As for 12 Stones in particular, I do feel they have something a little different, but don't show it often enough on this album... But yeah, I'd be lying if I said nostalgia didn't play a part in my perseverance.

This is completely true for me as well.

I'd agree for the most part that I find more cons than pros. Sometimes it's difficult - or just plain incorrect - to be totally objective & explain personal taste.

I guess that some of those thoughts are also based on expectation. The vocals are actually still quite good, but McCoy is capable of better. Ditto for my comments on the production. I'm not necessarily saying it sucks, just giving readers an understanding that it leans more on the polished side. For example; It's very slick on 'Psycho', but that song benefits from it.

And here comes another Christian music comment. I just don't get it.

Ahhh, ttb... You know you are in the minority with your thoughts on Potters Field... But it's great you don't try to hide that fact. You get Davey bonus points for that.

This album is kind of cool, the ballads are really boring though and there's just so many of them.

It's odd and kind of sad that there are bands that you can "grow out of".

Yeah, I know, Davey. To be fair, the s/t is a close second and has the better highlight track (The Way I Feel), but there's just a few tracks on there I don't care for as much while on Potter's Field I don't find any particularly weak tracks and I liked the move into riffier hard rock on that album.

"This album is kind of cool, the ballads are really boring though and there's just so many of them."

Well summed up. Remove 3 of the ballads for an 11 track LP & it would be much better balanced.

"Bulletproof sounds like a WWE theme song in waiting."

100% right Josh.

Personnaly ttb, I don't find a weak track on their debut. The variety isn't as good as it should be, but I love that I can listen to that all the way through.
