The only thing you talked about was Lana Del Rey as an artist, not the product that she produced. And certainly in no way did you attempt to justify why you think this album should be deserving of "classic" status, just that you're willing to buy into the hype whereas others clearly aren't

I've heard the name thrown around but haven't actually gotten around to listening til now. She has quite an interesting voice and the orchestrations are very well done...so far I'm really liking what I'm hearing. The album somehow manages to sound retro and modern at the same time, and her sultry mezzo voice fits this well. One complaint that perhaps explains the "boring" comments is that the entire album does seem to be down tempo and ballady...while she does what she does well, it would be nice to hear a bit more diversity. That being said, I haven't heard the whole album so we'll see...



edit: seems to be a "singles" problem. The rest of the album is actually pretty varied so far.

How about spending the last 3 pages of threads complaining about how the reviewer didn't elaborate and actually review the album? Can you not see the irony there? The only relevant response was a live video questioning her stage performance (irrelevant to an album review) and a few "boring album"s.



btw as far as the live performance goes...yeah, she sounded bad on SNL and was out of key, but then most people sound bad on SNL. The acoustics are terrible and for all we know she could have been having problems with her monitor and couldn't hear herself. She sounds fine here:

So your argument is that the ability to criticize something would derive from doing a better job yourself. That discussion is old and the argument is still obsolete and completely retarded and I'm gonna tell you why, if everyone would only be able to criticize something he should do better than basically no one would be able to criticize music or for that matter any form of art or craftsmanship.
