Whatever. Bash Rancid all you want. ...And Out Come The Wolves is still one of my favorite punk CDs of all time.

I wasn't bashing you, or Rancid. I was just saying the cd drastically changed my mind about the band.

To all the rancid haters...**** you stupid mother****ers.
Every ****ing time a band puts out a new album and decides to experiment musically and lyrically by bringing in a new aspect or even a new instrument.
All you stupid "REAL PUNKS" flame the band for the rest of their careers, giving them **** for trying a new thing.
Now, correct me if im wrong but isnt there always some ****ing asshole in the punk forum preaching bull**** about how "punks" don't conform to something. Right?
Well if this is so true then you all should love ranicd right now for "not conforming" to a certain style or "brand" of music. If you don't like the album all that much then stop listening to it or giving it ****. If im a long time fan of a band and they put out an album thats quite not up to snuff im not going to stop listening to them. Thats idiotic.
If you disagree with what a band is going...don't listen to them...
But please shut the **** up!

I know. I basically agree with apromisingyear, but I'll put in english for you. Early Rancid really was punk at it's best. I wasn't to happy with this album, but like I said, albums like Rancid and ...And Out Come The Wolves are punk at it's finest. But for some reason, "bashing Rancid" has become the cool and punk thing to do. Rancid undoubtedly have talent and their music gets you moving. Thankfully, your above the common "hardcore punk" who just says "Sellouts! Listen to The Casualities! Nazi Punk 4 Lyfe!" You provided some reason for why you don't like them, but to say everything by a certain band sucks because of one cd is idiotic. What if The Locust's next CD is absolute trash, would you "regret buying anything with their name on it?" Indestructible aside, Rancid is one of the best punk bands of the day in my opinion.

Just because the new cd sucked didn't make me think the band sucked. It had me reflect on what I really felt about past releases and if I really even liked them, I found that I didn't. I just simply don't like to listen to them, I don't hate them. Depending on how I reflect with my experiences from the band pre-new cd, will determine wether I am regretful or not. I was just never amazed with Rancid.

And on another note, I wasn't too pleased with Plague Soundscapes in the first place. Its just not very Locust sounding, I like their older releases a lot better.
|
| |
That wasn't the point of my post.
|
| |
I know, thats why I said "On another note"... Read my post before that.

Well, in that case, I heard your views on Plague Soundscapes in the recent "The Locust" thread in the punk forum. No need to repeat them. Though I am admittedly not as big a fan of The Locust as you, I was very pleased with Plague Soundscapes.

Yeah thats cool. Its still listenable and good... Its just, way different from what got me into them, and it doesn't seem very Locust-like to me.

I say 5/5 on this one. I was lucky enough to meet Rancid last year at NSSN2003 in SF, CA., and I hope to see them again this year when they come back home. This album is unique, and Punk, and should be ranked with all their great albums. If you love Rancid, you love all their music. Of course some songs are better then others, but this album definitly gets play in my CD player.

| |
that album should be used to torture people

people who say rancid didnt sell out.......are you serious? i love out come the wolves, and most of the rest of their cd's (the byo split with nofx was sweet) but fall back down was on trl....where they had the dick from good charlotte, and kelly osbourne (WTF?!?!)...then, the transplants (awful awful band) use diamonds and guns in hair color and shampoo commercials!!!!!! (punk as ****, huh?) i love rancids old stuff, but honestly rancid, is one of the biggest examples of selling out ever, other than maybe the offspring or green day (who's songs are played at prom......) rancid and green day are two of my favorite bands, but seriously, sellouts all the way. if you want a good rancid sounding band listen to lars and the bastards.
|
| |
this album was the decline of rancid. listen to out come the wolves and then listen to indestructable
|
| |
People should be more open-minded. it's a big risk and it takes a lot of guts for a band to change their sound, but i think we deserve to atleast give rancid a chance, u cant just listen to a song once and throw out the album...
I know that everyone would love rancid to stay the same, but time will always go on, and bands will evolve, they SHOULD evolve. Sure, i miss the greenday who made 'insomniac' and 'dookie'... but their new album has really grown on me, same with the new (self-titled) blink album. It's exciting seeing great bands changing their sound. And ofcourse "indestructable" isn't as good as "out come the wolves' and 'rancid 2000' to some people, but it isn't supposed to be! that's the point. The album they release is saying what they're all about now! not in 2000, but now!
I hate how an ultimate band in rancid, who have contributed so much to punk, get shut down by fans for changing their sound. who are we to do this? it's a shame some people are so narrow-minded.
im outty. great review by the way! :thumb:
