I don't think he's not talented, I just don't think anyone would care about him if he didn't have a gimmick, which is a shame because there are people more talented than him that will never be heard of because people tend to base their opinions on much more than the actual music. I like the album, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype that people are creating.

I don't know man. Everyone here really loves his music so even he was a Christian or a Rasta or whatever I think people would still take notice because of his talent, voice and songwriting.
If you can find someone who is more talented than Matisyahu and deserves his hype then show us. I think it will be hardeer than you think.

Personally, I think this guy is great for something that Ent. repeatedly mentioned in his review: the lyrics. I've long-since stopped listening to the radio because of all the crap that's out there, but this guy's music has a lot of substance to it and, thus, is worth a listen based simply on that. The fact that he does have talent serves only to better my opinion.

This guy just flat out rules. I'm not a fan of this kind of music much at all, but still, he's just awesome.

Live at stubbs is a fantastic album. I honestly can't imagine someone not liking or at least appreciating him.
