Cravinov, while I don't straight up agree with pixies on this, he's got a point. Metal as a whole produces a magnitude of generic unexperimental music that is only rivaled by the production of pop punk. There are a lot of interesting metal bands, sure, but we're looking on a scale that's grander than just the bands you listen too, many of which are incredibly generic.
I could say that about a lot of genres of music.

King of dudes, yes you could but most particularly of metal. talentless you're just an idiot.

I've been actively searching all of the shops in my area for this album since it's release.
I'll resort to ordering on Amazon, because from the reviews I've read, I must have this.
Nice review too.

What classfies experimentation? Is it something in 17/8 time with echo-drenched ambient passages and massive buildups? If you only listen to music because of how it's different from everything else, then you should really reconsider who you're calling an idiot. This Message Edited On 02.12.06

I only listen to music that I find unique and different to anything else because if I didn't I would be wasting my time listening to drivel.

You obviously haven't listened to Kayo Dot and you obviously know little about me. Reconsider.

I've been thinking about checking this band out for awhile but I'm not really a fan of metal.

What a lame argument. Great review pixies, I forgot to comment on it before you posted it.
My favourite song is the second one. It's amazing. I'm going to review this for a local magazine. It probably won't be as good a review as this, but hey, it will hopefully give them some exposure. This Message Edited On 03.10.06

What other bands do they sound like?

According to their myspace:
Isis, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Neurosis, King Crimson, and Jeff Buckley
They're kind of like a modern classical band that get really heavy and metalish at times. They have a singer who sounds like Jeff Buckley when he sings clean and they have songs with very long buildups and such.

I agree with all of those influence however, they sound grater than the sum of their parts, in fact, greater than any band I've heard recently.

They're the best live act I have ever seen.

Man...
I wonder how they pull playing these songs off live...
Great album though, I love Gemini Becoming The Tripod, it's pretty trippy for me. Is Choirs Of The Eye as good as this?

Most people tend to think Choirs of the Eye is alot better.

I dunno. I like this a lot more.

I like Choirs of the eye a lot better but the more I listen to this, the more moments I pick up that elicit strong emotional reactions from me. When I first listened, unlike with CotE, I had problems getting into the groove of things and remembering sweet parts, but now I'm rolling with the weirdness.
