I've never been into Brant Bjork for some reason. Red Fang and Karma To Burn are great. Fatso Jetson must be my favorite desert rock group though.

Bjork has some great laidback songs and simple old school rock riffs, I haven't heard all his work.

I've heard his latest album, but it did totally nothing for me.

Thanks for featuring this, mods.

I hoped my Lanegan - Blues Funeral review would get featured because in that way more people would have noticed the release but I wasn't that lucky

Thanks man. Much appreciated. This album really deserves it. Plus, the cover art is cracking.

Cool album, and very Mastodon'esqe at times, especially in "Death of Aquarius". Allthough a bit repetitive and with no real standout tracks(so far).

You're right. "Death of Aquarius" is very sludgy indeed. There are plenty of standout tracks on here. You just need to lisen to it more. I especially dig all southern rock cuts.

Thanks all for the recs, will check 'em out this week!

I feel stupid now, went to watch Mastodon on Saturday just gone and we didn't get there early enough for the 1st support band - Red Fang. I'll probably end up liking 'em now, just like the way we didn't bother getting to see Mastodon or The Sword support Metallica 3/4 years ago and now I'm a fan of both.

I've also heard that Brant Bjork album, Jalamanta, although only really liked a few tracks I must admit. "Automatic Fantastic" is fucking superb though.

Red Fang actually made my top 20 last year. They're kick-ass live. So... you have a lot to regret.

Awesome review Greg, I couldn't agree more. I love all of their records, but this is definitely the best record since The Big Black. It is nice to see Ben Ward bringing back the Melodic yet gruff vocals as presented on the first three records. The hiatus that they took I think help rejuvenate their sound and playing. And yes, if you haven't heard their first 3 albums, you need to....some of the best stoner rock riffs out there.

Hell yeah! Their first three albums are essential, especially Frequencies... and The Big Black. You're also right about the hiatus thing. They really sound reinvigorated on this record. Long live OG.

People may generally disagree with me on this, but i believe this to be the band's best album yet. I have listened to their entire discography as well, and this album perhaps three or four times in full. With a massive range of melodic riffs and acoustic interludes powerfully interwoven into their respective songs, it seems as if Orange Goblin had a power surge within each of their minds, and laid down some truly memorable songs. Definitely a highlight of the year.

You're right. It's probably my favorite release of OG too because it's their most consistent. Well. Either this or their psychedelia-drenched debut. They're closely followed by The Big Black.

Yeah. Speaking of great riffs, here's an awesome Polish band I've recently discovered:
