Granted, only halfway through, but that grand sense of scope--of something epic, something larger than the song lengths--is completely missing. There aren't many climaxes, and those that exist just don't have the same striking power. the inclusion of heightened electronic elements are doing no favors, and it makes the heavily-layered vocals grating.

Still a legendary album, shame it never got much attention. It's basically 10x better than Thrice with Controller like production value.

GOATed album imo. Saw them on the Mis Sigs tour when this and Controller had come out, and they absolutely floored me. Sorrow is still one of my favourite songs to this day.
