For a debut this is almost spot on. Sure, the band would go on to release albums of even better quality, but I believe some of the compositions-like in "Nellie takes her Bow", "The Battle of Marston Moor" and "Manhattan Rumble" remain for the most part unmatched. Also, the vocal delivery is nice and soothing.

Relistened to this after a long time. It's in interesting mix of things: very Beatles-esque songwriting, mixed with some really innovative orchestral instruments and melodies. Lots of cello and other strings, and not done in any straightlaced manner. Some serious but cool mucking it up. Not a classic, but there's possibly a space in your life for this.
