^hence the reason albums are overrated on Sputnik.

For this writer at least, it's the metal album of the year.
Hahahaha Flourishing's The Sum of All Fossils. This sounds really good though. Nice review.

lol seed, I was being entirely facetious. Regardless, I finished the album, and the rest was great. So 4/5 it is.

Metal album of the year?
Did you listen to Deafheaven's "Roads to Judah" or Loss' "Despond"?
|
| |
The cover art looks pretty much like the logo of Magma.
|
| |
Really liking this so far.
|
| |
All three of those are lame though...especially Heritage.
|
| |
Nah those all rule, but Baseline is still an idiot.
|
| |
Well, deafheaven and loss are pretty good but not album of the year status. And I didn't like Heritage at all. Lame was a bit harsh....
|
| |
Loss and Opeth definitely weren't AOTY status for me, but Deafheaven could've been.
|
| |
I need to listen to Deafheaven again, I swear I should like it haha.
|
| |
Haha it definitely seems like it would be up your alley.
|
| |
I will admit Violet is awesome though, especially the first half.
|
| |
Yup. And if you turn the volume down they can be the quietest too!

You stole my face D:

the cover art directly comes from

hell yea

While I seriously doubt this will overtake The Collective as my favorite metal album this year, I'm gonna give this a listen, especially if it's similar to Ashes.

I agree terminusest
I find this and Solstafir's Svartir Sandar hard to split for my favourite metal album of the year.
I rate Thy Catafalque's previous album higher than this though, but Rengeteg is a worthy follow-up.
Cover looks nothing like Magma either. Looks more like Thy Catafalque's Köd utánam video, I think, and obviously represents a forest, being that is pretty much what the word Rengeteg means.

Yeah, this one and Svartir Sandar are up there for me, but my split for favorite metal album of the year is Svartir Sandar and Peste Noire's latest.
