I don't think it's THAT terrible, but it is SO GENERIC-SOUNDING that even the admittedly good melodies can't save it

picked it up on vinyl about a month ago, just because, haven't had time to get to it, but from what I hear not like other Genesis work

no, more like your typical pop/art pop of the 60's. Kinda like Moody Blues or (at least other people claim that, I haven't heard their 60's material), Bee Gees.
