Excellent review. I will be sure to listen to this as soon as I can.

Regarding the rating, I agree that something can impress you without deeming it a truly outstanding work. The fact that you had trouble processing it somehow justifies the conservative rating.

I saw him live when he was opening for GY!BE in NYC.

I'm pretty sure he was louder than the full band by himself. It was a pretty close thing...

I heard a bit of it but wasn't that impressed. Doesn't matter to me if it's thought original or not.

originality may not make it worth your time but it can make it tougher to immediately enjoy cause it won't sound familiar. especially if you just hear a bit of it

When people say things are completely groundbreaking they tend to exaggerate, I'm not sure anything is completely original. I will give it another go sometime but normally if I'm about to like something I find at least something interesting on first listen.

The tagline for the review is that it is 'an album without precedence', that's what I am replying to.

The tagline for the review is "an album that feels without precedence". Hearing "a bit" from an album does not equal giving it a full listen, and what I am hearing seems very impressive to me.

If someone asked to me the genre or style of this kind of music, I would not know what to respond. Despite its weirdness, it is a relatively accessible piece of music, and it is certainly interesting, although it is all a matter of taste. Many drone/minimal music is not this engaging while being this sonically adventurous. Honestly, I am surprised this album was not even featured in the front page and got some more exposure.

It's actually really enjoyable to listen to when you're working as well.
