Nobody knows about Riot. Have you even heard Riot?
These guys remained in obscurity, due to management problems, and not due to poor quality music output.
Albums that followed The Privilege of Power are more "classic" metal, than speed/Judas Priest metal, but this band never recorded something mediocre.

So many errors in this review. "Its melodic, its dark," its? ITS!? But in all seriousness, good review, Hans! Thundersteel and The Privilege of Power are my favorites.

Yeah.
Back in the days we "the metal heads" had tons of tapes. I remember buying 4/5 albums per month and recording 10/20 tapes. The vinyls were too expensive.
We shared the tapes to spread the word m/
Btw, back in the 80's the dudes labeled Riot as power metal (one of the first bands I remember being labeled as power metal).

The so-called "tape trading"
And indeed, Riot were one of the first "power metal" bands in the US, along with Helloween in Europe.
Of course, US and Euro power metal are two different things.
I'm fan of the former.

US power metal is basically Maiden/Priest metal, passed through the special filter of American musicians, which includes a tad of glam rock/metal.
