Not sure if this is a good way to start with Kate, Notrap. To get familiar at a minimum, I'd invite you to try Hounds of Love or The Kick Inside before this.

I know some of their work, specially The Kick Inside.
I will check 50 Words for Snow asap.
|

I'm glad that people are enjoying this as much as me. "Snowflake" will probably make my top 20 songs of the year list.

There are some awesome moments in the album, but some tracks seems too long. That's my first time with Kate Bush, better to give her some more chances before any rating.
|
| |
Indeed. Also, this isn't the best introductory album. I suggest you check out Hounds of Love.

''I'm sure a lot of people could argue that she isn't the most influential pop artist of all time''
Of all time? Maybe not.
What about these who come to the top of my head;
Bjork
Tori Amos
Bat for Lashes
Fiona Apple
Sarah Slean
Paula Cole
Holly Cole
Sarah McLachlin
Joanna Newsom

No you don't. I personally think she is incredibly original and above all, a pioneer when it comes to prog pop.

I could see you digging this, Nag. Different from our habitual Kate Bush. Dreamy, seducting and absorbing. Don't forget to listen to Hounds of Love for a perfect trio.

Yeah, I need to hear Hounds of Love too.

Other than that, though, sentences like this...
More than anything though, 50 Words For Snow works well as something minimal; unlike other releases,
Bush really fixates on the inclusion of negative space to make way for drafty ambiance
...really make your reviews a joy to read.
Haha, I thought FOR SURE you were going to bash that sentence based on the setup :P Anyways, thank
you very much, Eli - your words are, as always, greatly appreciated. Let me address the points you
made though. Firstly, I said 'one of' to avoid people saying that it's too bold a claim (although I
really should get rid of 'inarguably'), but I still felt confident because almost all of the artists
Jethro listed have cited Bush as one of, in not their greatest influence. Secondly, I seem to have a
difficult time with semicolons and colons every now and then =[ This is the way I'm approaching it
though: colons are typically used to introduce a list of things, however, they can also be used to
introduce both an explanation or definition of something as well. I'm kind of styling it from
reading James Joyce's 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' but I will most certainly look more
into it. Thanks for the pointers! Also, have you heard any of Bush's earlier day albums?
