It seems they're a really hit-or-miss band and as every album of theirs is wildly differrent from each other, yeah that's pretty understandable

I've loved this album for years. Singing When The Sun Goes Down at 4am with your drunk friends is fantastic, try it.

Awesome review Ross, happy 50!

Great album but I actually think that Suck It And See is more or less on par.

Is it weird that I never quite got the hype for this album and prefer ...Nightmare?

Yes.

Thanks Ali, I really like Suck it and See too, in fact I like all of their albums, but I still think they've lost some of the panache that makes this album so special to me.

Great review! Album makes me so nostalgic. I doubt I'll ever forget the first time I heard this band; View from the Afternoon, grade 11, smoking pot in my buddy's PT Cruiser.

..and 6 years later I'm still amazed by the how great this is from start to finish.

Every 2 months or so I get it out and blast it all week, singing along to every single moment on the album except for Ritz To The Rubble, which for some reason I never learnt.

I was thinking about reviewing this soon, but this excellent writeup has rendered that plan null and void for the near future. Have a pos. Even though Riot Van is excellent.

@garth: Funny that, From the Ritz to the Rubble was probably the first track I played to the point of

knowing the lyrics off by heart. Still, sounds like you enjoy the album and cheers for the

compliments.
