A few people have said that! I didn't see it but I listened for it properly one listen-through and I get it - it's not exactly something I;d ever mention in a review but I can see it.

Also iFghtffyrdmns, it's 3-0 'cause 3 LPs, and 'cause this is Johnny Foreigner vs Everything. Could've been 1-0 or 3-0, but the 3 adjectives in the summary clinched it for me.

They slow down much more on this record Chan, like I say, there are as many slow songs here as there are fast ones, it's just that the intensity doesn't die whatever sound they try.

If this is better than the new LC! then i'll download happily

Yeah, I'm digging this.
Right now though, I'm feeling like this should definitely be about ten minutes shorter.

I certainly understand the "length" thing but at the same time I think part of the charm of it is its imperfection, I know that's almost becoming a cliché round here but I really don't see this as being "overlong", and it peaks and drops at all the right points to make me want to play it again straight away.

would i dig this if i've never been big into los campesinos?

(i'm sure like twenty people have already asked that sorry)

They're way less happy-go-lucky than Los Camps!, they don't sound very similar at all any more really. I would say you could listen to the first track of the stream and if you enjoy that there's a great chance you'll like the album, just off basic feel.

It's just the quirky, slightly awkward, we-thought-of-this-so-we-put-it-in-a-song mentality that they share, really. No glockenspiels, more screeching guitars, but this is half Casio keyboards and slower more melancholy songs mixed with their old sound so yeah.

TRIPLE POST.
The stream got taken down, which is a shame. I wanted as many people as possible to be able to hear this at the click of a button.

So 2 listens and I am in love. Between Sputnik and the only other music site I frequent (Decoy Music) I've found some bands I really love and I think this is going to be a band I can add to that list.
At the risk of sounding like a pretentious ass, I'm just going try and explain the feel I get from this....
It's some of the most careless music I have ever heard. What I mean by that is it is so insanely clear to me that this group does not care what anyone thinks about any fan base or critic. They just made the music they wanted to make, you can come along if you want. Sometimes music like that is the best kind of music you can get.
That looks stupid when I read it back, but that's the feel I get from this.
So since this is my intro to the band, should I check out their past releases? The more I listen I'll know if I love this as much as I think I do and in that case I'd probably check them out anyhow, but I figured I can ask people who know them if it's worth it or not.

Not at all, that's pretty much exactly what I tried to convey in the review re: careless music, this band seem so free of all the "process" and most of the "thought" and just genuinely fucking love making music.
Waited Up 'til It Was Light has more "proper songs" on it, if you like, and it's more anthemic and "cohesive" in the sense most people think of the word. It's about as good as this, though, one of my favourite records ever.
More than anything the basic mentality you describe and that a lot of people love about this exists all the way through their catalogue to date. Oh, and next I would go to Thought You Saw A Shooting Star - which is the closest to this LP musically - but definitely check out Waited Up... - YouTube "Salt, Peppa And Spindarella" and tell me it isn't the best song you've heard ever.

now i really want to check this out but will have to wait until tomorrow

Thanks Knott, I am going to follow your recs on their back catalog. This is really good shit... Best new band I heard this year, I think (new to me, that is).
