I can dig symphonic prog if the songwriting is good enough. This just seems to fail in this respect.

Yeah symphonic prog needs to be original, heartfelt and patiently crafted with a passion for a full and everlasting effect. When I recognize another band' part again and again at every turn, I usually give up.
