I just don't get why so many people say things like that in the first paragraph of a review. Metalcore isn't dead, dying, or washed up.
Think of the MLB during the 90's when the league expanded to 30 teams. There were a lot of pitchers who didn't really have any business pitching in a major league starting rotation, but that didn't mean that pitching sucked, the talent was just watered down.
There are still plenty of bands doing the right things and making fantastic music.

Never said it was dead, dying or washed up. I said it was oversaturated. And it is oversaturated. You can't say it's not. Sure there are a ton of GOOD metalcore acts out there, but none of them do particularly well under the shadow of the mediocre copy cat bands.

"Obnoxious synth lines plague verses and mediocre singers who compensate by using a ton of vibrato. Each new release sounds like a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of Define the Great Line. It's a bad game of telephone, while the metalcore sound might have been a brilliant product to start, it has been passed on to an innumerable amount of bands and the end product is so distorted and, quite frankly wretched."
The whole each new release part.... The end product is only distorted if you only listen to shit.

You can't tell me the scene doesn't look like that right now.

I don't really know because I don't associate with the "scene." I just listen and go to shows but I suppose I can see where you are coming from. I went to the all-stars tour this summer because my friends band was opening and I will admit save 2-3 bands it did suck some fat dick.
But that's really my only visual of the scene per se.

Spec, this doesn't suck. I think you'll like it. TRUST ME
and i stand by my 4
the remakes all fucking rule, hydroplaning slays, and yeah
i don't understand why this is getting so much hate here

I love this album so much... The pop-punk parts do not come out of nowhere... If you listen to the guitars right before it you can hear them slow down and bring the song into the pop-punk sections. It has a good lead in to them. While I do agree that some of the breakdowns are generic that doesn't take away from the technicality of the rest of the album. And why are people SO against clean singing now days? Give me a reason why you don't like it because frankly, they blend it in so well you shouldn't care there is cleaning singing in a slow part of a song.
Oh and Bloc, the new Eltist album is just boring... they sound exactly the same as their last album (no progression) except with a different vocalist.. Was not impressed at all by it.

Yeah confused about the hate. I'm a new reviewer so I get that this isn't an amazing review by sputnik standards, but I thought the album was creative and fantastic for a debut from 19 year old kids.

I don't know that there is all that much hate. The majority of the ratings for this are positive, it's just a few of us who didn't like it decided to speak up. This isn't the worst thing out there, I just don't find much about it to like.
@Kyyzen: I meant they come out of nowhere as they are unexpected. I still don't think they mesh well with the rest of the song, but it's not completely awful transition-wise. As for clean singing, I love clean singing, but it has to work with what else is going on. I don't mind the clean singing in this all that much, but it's not the strongest singing I've heard on a metalcore album.

too many good albums have come out recently to justify giving this an extended amount of repeated listens.

with 2 songs being re-recorded and youth angst just spewing all over this album, you can tell plenty of amateur ethics still need to be matured. meh at best and the ep led me to believe this was going to be something phenomenal.

Their EP sounded a lot more mature than this which is what I find truly astonishing
