Well. You've heard the latest Neal Morse album. This is a polar opposite to that album.

Hell! haha, your 1st link is enough to convince. Not sure what to think of it still.

Don't think, just listen. The gates of hell are getting closer.

Hell freezes over! Excellent review. I'm gonna approach the gates at some point.

Not bad. Not great. Solid. I'd give it a 3. Album art rules.

Well. I prefer it to the majority of 'true' sludge albums released lately.

Hellenic MH is crazy for giving this less than a 7
That's what i think so too, even though i haven't actually listened to this. In general, a considerable amount of the ratings in MH (GR) are biased, i trust more the ratings in Sputnik rather than anything else.

The case with Polish MH is quite different. They basically praise every new release and give unreasonably high ratings. That's why I prefer another Polish rock-oriented newspaper. But, I haven't read it for a very long time now. I guess the Internet is the best way to discover new music now.

They basically praise every new release and give unreasonably high ratings
That's exactly what the Hellenic MH does as well, but it gets strict selectively and that's the thing i don't like.
For example, the rating average for the last Nevermore album here is close to 3/5, because the record is admittedly mediocre, yet the MH rating was 8/10.
Another thing that i believe biases their judgement rating-wise, is the fact that the magazine administration has opened a record distribution/selling company that is being run with the magazine simultaneously.
Although most ratings are reasonable, a considerable amount of them are pumped up and i wonder how can a magazine be fair to the end merit of a record when it is selling it at the same time?
Reviewing and selling records are like water and oil, you just can't have the one and the other take place simultaneously.
Also getting paid to review records is rather inappropriate for me, because the record labels can easily affect the point of view of a reviewer, by giving them money under the table.

You're totally right. When it comes to Polish MH, the situation is exactly the same. They just use the magazine as a promotion tool. It feels widely inappropriate, not to say dishonest. That's why, I prefer to read the newspaper that seems totally independent from record labels.
Another case is when you get the album from the record label for free and you're about to review it. I think negative reviews are also not very welcome in this case. But, the record labels seem to know what they're doing and send free copies to reviewers who would most certainly dig the record in question.

This was instantly more enjoyable for me than their previous effort. Say it was probably the production, sorry genre purists.
In all seriousness, this is a top-notch review you got here.

Thanks man. Much appreciated. This is infinitely better than their previous releases. Jack Endino clearly knows what to do. Thanks to his production the album sounds different than your average sludge metal release.
