This album is probably one of my favourites, it may not have stairway on it. but its got the riffs, the drums, the vocals that any classic rock fan would want to jump around to!

Being an avid Zeppelin fan i may sound biased, but I'm sure most people would enjoy listening to this. My favourite songs on it are all of them, so its hard to give an opinion on a song. But, nonetheless it is definitely one of Zeppelin's definitive albums.

I love The Lemon Song, when I get better at Bass, it is my dream to play that solo in the middle. Good review, though you discredit some of the best songs on there. Whole Lotta Love and The Lemon Songs are glaring rip-offs of past blues song (I don't remember who did Whole Lotta Love, but I have a recording of the Small Faces doing a song called "You Need Love" and its basically the same lyrics. The Lemon Song is just a longer version of the Robert Johnson song)

But, to me, Lemon Song and Ramble On are the best songs on the record, good review nonetheless

First, I love zeppelins music. And I think this is my second favorite album next to Houses of the Holy. And the songs that are my favorite on here are Whole Lotta Love, Thank You, Ramble On, Heartbreaker, and Ramble on. My favorite song of all time is Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp!
Yea i agree that Zeppelin III is underrated. However (no one get mad at me) I think IV is alittle bit overrated. Dont get me wrong the music is great and i love it, but i think people look too much at that one album because of stairway to heaven. My favorite Zep albums are I, II, and Physical Graffiti.
I wouldn't call IV overrated. Stairway To Heaven, however, is overrated. But every track on the album is a classic, very few other albums that that's true for (Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Exile on Main Street, Pet Sounds, Revolver, some Bob Dylan albums, and Dark Side of the Moon are the only other ones that come to mind right now). It's also the same album that produced When The Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop, Going To California, Black Dog, and Rock & Roll, in addition to Stairway To Heaven.

III is underrated, but then again, it was least commercially appealing of Zeppelin's albums. III was very bluesy, and very folksy, not as much hard rock, with the exception of Immigrant Song. And as nice as the Bron-Y-Aur style Zeppelin songs were, it's not putting the album high on the charts, as say...Stairway To Heaven? It went pure folk/blues. IV was as successful as it was, because it did a great job at touching on different genres. It gave you your hard rock/metal with Black Dog and Misty Mountain Hop. It gave you some folk style music with The Battle of Evermore. It provided some nice acoustic soft rock work on Going to California. And then, with the headliner track (Stairway) it gave all three genres at once. It was a very innovative album, and althought it might not be the greatest album every, it is without a doubt the most diverse of all time.
What's the song that starts off with a few strummed acoustic chords, then a few really fast fingerpicked notes, then back to chords? Is it even on this album, because I hear it on the radio a lot?
I personally don't hear it on the radio alot, but maybe "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You"? One of my very favorites
One of the best things about LZ II is that is its somewhat crude, instead of fine tuned to perfection. I think they were touring while they made it, so they didn't have alot of time, and most of the material on it was from their live repitoire, right? It just has this feeling of genuine energy, sincerity, I'm not sure exactly what, like a live album but better. If you compare their later albums to this, its almost like comparig two different bands as far as studio work goes. Their later albums had more attention to studio detal, and this one was somewhat raw... which makes it good

Led Zeppelin IV is extremely overrated. Stairway to Heaven ISN'T THAT GREAT OF A SONG. Achilles Last Stand is ten times as good as Stairway. Sure, Black Dog, Rock N' Roll, Misty Mountain Hop....they're all great songs, just very overrated. Personally, I think Zeppelin's best all around albums are I, III, Physical Grafitti and Houses of the Holy. I never skip a song on any Zeppelin album, however. Another underrated Zep album is Prescence, which is really good.

Anyway, yeah. II is a great album, and nice review. To the comment about Zeppelin stealing old blues songs, they played them great anyway. And weren't there lawsuits filed? Because I think that "You Need Love" was originally a Willie Dixon song, although I may be wrong. Anyway, good review, great album. And yeah, Page is the master.

It's a great album - Thank You, Whole Lotta Love, Ramble on..

It's prolly the most underrated of the zep albums, along with 3 - which is probably the best acoustic album ever produced (IMO).

But, everything Zep sounds freakin awesome!

Whole lotta love is a Willie Dixon blues song called "You need love". and yes, they did steal the lyrics.
The Lemon song is a mix between Howlin Wolf's Killing Floor (I shoulda quit you, long time ago....) and Robert Johnson's Travelling Riverside blues ( squeeze my lemon till the juice runs down my leg), which orginally was a song recorded for I, but left out. Its only in the box set.

and has anyone ever noticed the lyrics on Thank you? go listen to a Hendrix song called If six was nine, then you'll see what I'm talking about.

Even the world's greatest rock band (and my favourite by the way, i got everything they ever did, studio, live and bootlegs) stole a few things. they still are THE masters of rock.

I just got Axis: Bold As Love the other day and I noticed that too.....anyway....yeah, even if they did steal more than a few lyrics they are the greatest rock band in history.

Yeah, I posted that in April and figured it out a few months after that. Why must everyone feel the need to tell me this after I've already found it out? I've even got an AIM message telling me what it was! Well, just so we're all clear; I know what the name of the song is.
