"Latin... plebs... geddit?"
yes, I do.
I also get that emo is not latin for "to buy", it's latin for "I buy".

THEY'RE JUST SUCH AN AWFUL BAND.
That's just my opinion, but it's fact.

""Cinderella through the room, I glide and swan 'cos I'm the best slow dancer in the universe." Now that is how you convey romanticism in a song. I hope you notice the complete lack of made-up female encounters and cliche similes."
Yeah, because Cinderella and a slow dance aren't cliche symbols of romanticism at all.

Cinderella used as a verb? I could write an essay on the brilliance of that (before you ask, no I don't want to I have stuff to do today).
Slow dance... maybe, I guess, but it's used more as a conceptual link rather than as a means to impress any company (which is what Mayday Parade fall into doing); as in he isn't slow dancing with anyone.

Also, since Mr. Neg person didn't poke his head in and say why (because I'm fine with criticism as long as it's in a "here's how you could improve" fashion), is it right of me to assume irrational fanboy?

so i take it i should check out the album right? is it like The Black Parade at all cuz that album really invented the genre of emo imo

Listening to this now...yikes, this is bland and sparkless. There's absolutely no sense of passion in this music, even though the lyrics are all misty-eyed teenage romanticisms. Isn't pop punk supposed to fast (punk) and fun (pop)? This is slow and dreary at best, and not in an emo kind of way, in a "this has no replay value" kind of way. These guys sound like a bad Story of the Year cover band honestly.
Review is good though man. I don't think using The National's lyrics as a comparison is that far-fetched, as you were just comparing lyrical style, and not the musical styles of the two bands which are obviously different.
You know what this kind of reminds me of? Like a modern day version of those really, really bad soft-rock hair metal ballad bands of the late 80s, trying to still retain their metal edge while being "emotional" and in the process making some of the absolute cheesiest most uninspired music possible. Except this band does that with punk and pop-punk. This is my first time listening to this band and I think it will be my last.

ALIR = A Lesson in Romantics, their debut.
So I'll ask you Knott's question again. What do you think of ALIR's lyrics?

This is a pretty good album. Better than the story so far or the wonder years at any rate. This band was always more pop rock or even alt rock than pop punk and they've always been much slower and more ballad driven than their contemporaries. Not sure why a story of the year comparison, I guess they do have similar vocal melodies but they're generally not much alike in any category except for both being limped together as pop punk.
