Thanks for the support guys. I agree, a 5 is bold. I believe it takes a long time to achieve "classic"
status. Some might think it's not a classic now, but it will be. I'd just rather not have to change

Originally it was going to say something about Mastodon doing the whole space thing a million times better than Muse did back in 09. Stargasm alone trumps The Resistance in its entirety imo.

Out of interest, who read Pitchfork's review? They gave it a 7.5 on the grounds that it "felt like a mixtape" and that Dry Bone Valley, Thickening and Creature Lives were three shitty songs all too close to each other. I hate Pitchfork sometimes

Also, I love how some of the people who criticize this for being a 5 have some really off-the-wall/wtf? albums as 5's. I mean, imo you should 5 whatever the fuck you want, but if you're gonna dish it out then you should be ready to receive it too lol.

I listened through Mastodon's discography today, and this was by far the best of the 5 studio albums. The rest of them sort of flutter around 4-ish, but this one is a definite 4.5. The sheer amount of energy that radiates throughout this album is just incredible...
