I guess Captain HumpYourFace has the right to be the true critic of what is brilliant or not.
I'm tempted to ask if this review is a joke, but considering that this site acknowledges power metal as a subsection-worthy genre, I know that the universe is just totally fucked up today.
Umm...thanks?
Most of what I said I meant, but a lot of the comparisons and words I used were meant to be a joke, considering what I was writing about.
I was obviously kidding about the mystical journies/dragons/wintery stuff. The intro was intentionally cheesy. This Message Edited On 12.14.05

Creepy thing is, that somewhat applies to Dragonforce.
I still haven't listened to it yet...I tried listening to the first track, but I think Sonic Firestorm made me like this less. It's just...lacking.

Sonic Firestorm is the best, so the other two will seem lacking bu commparison. This is still good though - it reminds me of Blind Guardian. Except their later stuff was faster with more insane shredding, which I missed on this one.

ShadowsFallen, don't worry I picked up on that. I just laugh at power metal. Plain and simple. However, what confuses me is a 4/5 for DragonForce but a 1/5 for Pysopus. You praise DragonForce for being fun and technical, however, they're fun and technical in the way every other power metal band is, whereas Psyopus produces music very few people have heard anything like before.

Power metal is my joint.
yeah, the lyrics are usually nauseatingly cheesy, you'd be mentally deficient to argue that.
But then again, that's almost the charm of the genre. I can laugh at it, but I still enjoy good power metal immensely. Whenever I'm in need of a laugh, I can always go to a lyrics website, look for band titles that must be power metal (usually anything with metal, dragon, force, steel, etc.) and just indulge in some self-deprecating laughter.
Nice review as well, as usual I suppose

That's good. Everyone laughs at power metal. It's the nature of the genre to be cheesy and over the top. Most metal fans are used to how the genre is and start to take it seriously compared to other bands who play the same basic thing. If they didn't, everyone would be laughing at power metal all the time. This Message Edited On 12.15.05

Part II – mx really needs to increase the character limit in comments
DragonForce is much more technical than any power metal band I've ever heard. While all PM bands have the same style of vocals, melodies, and keyboards, I've never heard one with such emphasis on soloing as DragonForce. Without the shredding, they'd just be another generic power metal band. But as a guitarist, I enjoy listening to five minutes of constant shredding in every song, even if it does become what people consider "wanking".
Psyopus is very technical and unique. I have no problem with how they play, it's what they play. The chaotic style of Psyopus/DEP type grindcore and whatnot simply doesn't appeal to me. I guess it all comes down to personal taste, because I just can’t get into Psyopus. A 1/5 was probably too harsh on my part though.

Ya okay. I feel like when people review albums they should give a caveat if they are reviewing the album on subjectivity versus objectivity. I mean, every review should be a mix of those two, but yours seems to be completely subjective. I think that's why Subtle and I got pissed at it, and I'm agitated by the high ranking on this review. Just a thought.

It's not one of my better reviews for that reason. I looked at it again a while back and I was surprised by some of things I said. I don't like the album, but the review came off to me as completely biased.

Fantastic review! DragonForce owns my soul. Favorite track is definately "Evening Star." Everything fits so well and it's truly a power metal epic.

Good review...great album. Although Sonic Firestorm is the favourite album by most fans, and it is a fanfuckintastic album at that, i prefer this album over Dragonforce's other two offerings. I can't see a single flaw in this album whatsoever.

I listened to this album once and gave it a 4.5. I listened to it again and changed it to a 4. Once more caused me to change it to 3.5. Sonic Firestorm is much better.

I loved this album because in this album they will show the 80's vocals and the kick ass program rock. I think that no one should get inhuman Rampage because it is totally overrated, it is like playing black fire over, over , and over again. Stick with this album. I think that this is there one hit wonder album.Rock on Herman Lee!
