Also, its rating is better :]

I agree with Hyperion, it's hard to balance a reviewing style that maintains integrity yet departs from the norm.

Very true. Hell, I stopped writing on my old account because I was tired of writing the same shit over and over.

| |
It's the hardest part for me, I can easily fall into writing the same review over and over; makes me cautious.

I see what you were trying to do here with this review, but in all honesty it just comes off as being really, really self-centered. People don't read reviews for entertainment or self-embellishing metaphors; if they want to be entertained by something like that then there are thousands of online writing sites for them to use. People look up reviews to, you know, get a review of the album.
Quite tempted to neg, but won't.

Dammit, this is *not* going as well as I'd hoped. My Personal Expos class might be rubbing off on me a bit much.

I'm not sure if I would even agree with the description of "interesting". It's really hard to care about some random person's camping trip (no offense). It's so self-absorbed it's mind-blowing. If you really want to do a concept review, try doing something like, say the ridiculously random (but hilarious in a stupid way) review of Nickelback's Dark Horse on this site or - even better - Pitchfork's review of Jet's Get Born.

This review was actually (partially) inspired by this: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/30220/After-The-Burial-Rareform/
I dunno, that one seemed to get decent reception. If I wake up in the morning and this has been negged to hell, I'll probably request to have it deleted and I'll write a "normal" review. Most of my conventional reviews here have been relatively well-received, and whether it's this or another, this album needs a foil to the inevitable 2.5/3 review flood.

Also, while I completely understand and can empathize with most of your criticism, I'm not sure I get the "self-centered" part.

The review is good but you might want to reduce the tl;dr factor next time :]
