The wipers were a big influence on Nirvana, Dinosaur, and Melvins. too bad nobodies heard of them.
I'd recommend You're living all over me, its way better than this, and Bug.This Message Edited On 05.20.06

I wasn't trying to really describe Dinosaur Jr. as a grunge band. I was more trying to make the point that everyone lauds Nirvana as the band that killed hair metal, while there were better bands playing this kind of music years before Nirvana. I almost bought You're Living All Over Me the other day, but I got Yankee Hotel Foxtrot instead.
And YD -- Thanks. Repulsion is a good song, but I think there are even better songs than that from this album. Forget the Swan and Bulbs of Passion are must-hears.

So, I like this album less than I used to, nowadays. This album simply isn't very good.

I still don't get what you are saying. There were thousands of bands in the underground who didn't play hairmetal in the 80s. This Message Edited On 05.20.06

I'm stuck between a 3.5 and a 4 on this. I definitly like YLAOM and Bug better, but I'll give this some more time to grow on me.
For now, I'll give it a 4.

I tend to forget how much I really enjoy this album since Dinosaur Jr. have such an excellent discography. This definitely gets overshadowed by many other Dinosaur Jr albums yet it is still a great piece of work.

What could have been. I am going to buy this just because I sympathize with the Jr...and because this was review was a knockout.

I never really liked the vocals, just sounded annoying. They did however, do an excellent job on the "Judgement Night" soundtrack with that rock/rap/funk song (which was without the singer).

I must be awfully honest, the 90's albums are sitting wonderfully with me right now, Where You Been, Without A Sound, and Hand It Over to be exact. The new stuff too, in fact all of their stuff, kick ass band
