I think what it is is if the music is just overpoweringly melodic/awesome, I can just put the vocals in the background. Like with Alcest and Agalloch, vocals are an inconsequential part in the scope of the song. If that makes any fucking sense, cause it probably doesn't.

Well i happen to love neige's style of vocals and i think they add to the music he's a part of but i get where you're coming from.

Most forms of extreme metal are an acquired taste so if you really keep looking i think you'll end up liking more than you thought you would.
You should check out Lantlos - .neon too if you feel like it, it's got neige on vocals and is way better than alcest imo.
