but that doesn't make it a universal compliment.
That's why I said it was considered a compliment of sorts (meaning sort of), but I can see what you're getting at. I hate it when I do lofty statements. :/
That whole portion is basically saying "this album is perfect, and if you don't agree you are wrong"
Yes hahaha I couldn't think of any other way to put it so that it was less ridiculous. I basically couldn't find any negatives about the album.
Also you use the word "melodic" 6 times in 8 sentences in that middle paragraph.
Yup. :/
Thanks for the critique!

But the way you wrote it makes it seem like the word's connotation has changed over the years, which isn't really true.
And if the album is perfect, then why is it a 4? Surely it isn't flawless.
And as far as using the same words go, it happens. Just seems like something you normally would have picked up on with even a casual proofread.
Anyway, not trying to be a dick or anything. Like I said you are a good reviewer, this is just one out of a hundred and however many that I simply can't get behind

Oh.
And if the album is perfect, then why is it a 4? Surely it isn't flawless.
Even though it's extremely solid, there are definitely better albums out there. Stormlord - The Gorgon Cult, for example. Often as a reviewer I need to see how an album compares to other albums in the genre. The context is important for me to make a decision.
"Just seems like something you normally would have picked up on with even a casual proofread."
I did! I just couldn't get rid of them. :/
Don't worry, I don't think you're a dick. : )

I understand that this may not be your definition of a 5, and that there are better albums out there, but saying things like "If anyone was to complain about this album, their complaints would bounce off as merit-less" doesn't defend the rating you gave it at all. It doesn't really say anything besides that you are closed off to the idea of this album possessing flaws. And if you saw the redundancy why didn't you edit it? Were you going for a joking/anything flies tone to the extent that it was worth sacrificing readability? I dunno I'm just lost, I don't get what your thought process was when you decided to write this review.
With that said, the opening paragraph is pretty awesome. I especially like the part about donning viking attire and laying waste to villages...although unfortunately that is the portion that has a lot less to do with the music : /

Yes, that's exactly what I was doing. I was trying to put some closure on what I thought about the album.

TOO FAR

Thanks!

So, what's the relation between vikings and BM? Except for the fact that they're both from scandinavia ofc

@Tyraelxy
These guys have wolves on their album covers, vikings probably had them as pets.
