Yeah, really

Mushok uses a baritone Ibanez guitar tuned to like G# or something...

Why the hell even have a guitar with that low tuning if all you do are play a few crappy powerchords with it while Aaron sings his lungs out?

I mean, songs like "So Far Away" are a waste of a baritone guitar. Really. Songs like "For You" or "Open Your Eyes" or whatever, now those make good use of it...

Meh

Hm, I'd be a little kinder and give it 2.75 / 5

Why? The first 7 tracks are actually all decent nu-metal numbers. Nothing you'd have on repeat, but definitely listenable, with "So Far Away", "Price to Play", "Layne" and "Zoe Jane" all being great affecting, emotional numbers.

What's wrong with the album? Everything after the first 7 tracks gets 0/5. They'd be better if they made this an EP, charged less and offered us 7 songs.

I`m not going to say that 14 Shades Of Grey was a letdown to me, i liked it just as much as their other cds. Although a lot of ppl will disagree I really do think Aarons lyrics are awesome. Four of my friends have died within the last 2 years and all I have had is those Staind cds to keep me close to them. In my opinion Staind is a great band
and Aaron is really cgood at the lyrics that he makes

Not Staind's best work, but it's not half bad.

While this album isn't very good, I must say that I really like the song "Fill Me Up". It's nothing earth shattering, but I just find the chorus and main riff to be very catchy.

I bought this album based on Price to Play. I listened to it once. It bored the hell out of me and I haven't so much as thought about listening to it again in almost 3 years now.

I thought 'Zoe Jane' and 'So Far Away' were exceptional songs. Nowhere near as good as Break The Cycle though.

I must admit that this album ain't their best, the repetitive methods are shining through. Then there truly are some filler tracks, though Aarons meaningful lyrics save a lots of those ones.

Still 14 shades of Grey ain't a Dull and unimaginative album. And in the end it isn't so bleak one either, I'd prefer to describe the mood as melancholic in many ways.

So far Away & Zoe Jane are the real standoutones here 'cause of their beautiness. Price to play, how about you, Reality & Fray are also wonderful ones. And even Could it be & Blow away are way above average.

With bit cutting this album would have been great, now it's just too long & understandably boring.

And who draws borders to music? Who says there can't be more than one power ballad on the album? You really think you can compare Staind to the 80's metal bands like SAXON? plain stupidness- This Message Edited On 01.04.07

Agreed, this was a leap in to that whirlpool (read repeated circumstances) of disaster.

I gotta agree with you that the similar song structures get old after awhile especially an album with 14 songs...

14 songs = too many songs.
