i wouldn't call it a masterpiece but it's definitely a lot better than their other albums. Atleast a lot different

Listening for the first time now. "Johnny Boy," "Addict with a Pen," and "Air Catcher" are fantastic, though I was already familiar with the former. I'm also digging the classical influences that crop up every now and then

Solid 5/5 track and it's not even in the top 3 from this album imo
"Isle of Flightless Birds" - 5
"Taxi Cab" - 5
"Trapdoor" - 5
"Air Catcher" - 5
"Johnny Boy" - 4.7
"Friend, Please" - 4.6
"A Car, a Torch, a Death" - 4.5
"Addict with a Pen" - 4.3
"Implicit Demand for Proof" - 4.2
"Before You Start Your Day" - 4
"March to the Sea" - 3.9
"The Pantaloon" - 3.2
"Fall Away" - 2.5
"Oh, Ms. Believer" - 1.8
"Isle of Flightless Birds" might be my new favorite song by them
|
| |
trapdoor isn't a 5 and fall away is a solid 3 imo. haven't listened in full for a while though so i should probably revisit

Oh, ms Believer is pretty good i would say. Johnny boy is prop my least fav

Ehhh idk, "Oh, Ms. Believer" is one of those tracks that I find simultaneously boring and grating, and the lyrics are so corny that they're actually creepy.
"Johnny Boy" on the other hand is one of their best anthems imo. It had to grow on me somewhat but now I think it's an unforgettable slice of pop gold.

Drumming during the bridge of "Trapdoor" is tasty as hell

I wish they'd rerelease this album and play more if these songs live, especially trapdoor and taxi cab. I think they'd be a total hit with the crowd

I wish they'd rerelease this album [2]
But then that might create complications regarding Vessel's packaging - whenever I see physical copies of that one on stores, it's claimed to be the debut, basically ignoring the existence of this and Regional smh
And yeah, "Trapdoor" and "Taxi Cab" in particular are amazing. "Trapdoor" is my favorite TOP song that I've heard.

Trapdoor is probably my fav TOP song right now tbh, with kitchen sink as a close second

Also that's true. I dunno I just want to be able to hold a physical copy of this in my hands without having to pay 200$ for a shitty cd they threw out into the crowd at one of their shows

This is a fucking masterpiece! Why do they get so much hate?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
I think most of the hate is because of Blurryface alone tbh
Plus I can see why someone would find these dudes to be off-puttingly cheesy and/or be annoyed by Tyler's vocals
Can't help but disagree though. Saviors or innovators these guys are not, but they are damn good pop songwriters. Vessel is even better than this album if you ask me.
