You taking the piss out me name? I don't like recording and from what I've read Anthony thinks Sherman is a dickhead.

To begin with, I did vote 'yes' but I do think you were kinda harsh on this album. The Chilis are never anything worse than good. Granted, this album may be the weakest but it's still a'right.

This was my first RHCP recording waaaay back in the day. It lived in my boob box. Real Men changed the way I played bass forever.

I saw the RHCP at the NYU show. When four white guys walked on stage I was floored. That's how far back in the day it was.

and jack wrote most of freaky styley

I'd just like to say that Jack's guitar playing in Mommy Where's Daddy is beautiful, ruined only by bad singing.

This is actually not as bad as I thought, in fact their first album is quite refreshing in contrast to their new direction (which I like as well). Grand Pappy Du Plenty (instrumental) is probably still the darkest Chili Pepper tune to date.

my favorite is Green Heaven tied with Baby Appeal.

I really don't like this aalbum much, and i love older chili peppers for the most part.

True Men DOn't Kill Coyotes and Green Heaven are both excellent though, and buckle down, get up and ump, and maybe police helicopter are enjoyable.

The rest i don't paticualarly like, but it's not a horrible album.

True Men Don't Kill Coyotes is such a classic.

This is a very good album, i've decided I need to catch up on some of their earlier stuff.

lol this album is terrible for the most part. i guess just because its the early material people feel
obliged to give it such high ratings

also, the production courtesy of andy gill is absolutely awful. he managed to make an exciting live
band sound totally sterile on record

I disagree. The crappy 80's production is half of the charm, every song here is so much fun to me.

Not all of the rockier songs are brought to life as well as they probably could have been but stuff like Get Up And Jump is just full of energy. Listening to it in comparison to the demo towards the end of the print I have reveals a world of difference, at the very least.

Passion dripping from the coyote's eyes
He can taste his blood and blood never lies
