Listened to those YouTube links.

The songs are good per se, but hardly groundbreaking imo.

What i liked about Swarms in the first place, was the discrete presence of vocals, besides the really intelligent made minimal loops and beats.

Walking in the streets of my hometown and listening to Swarms was a profound experience but i doubt it if this band will have the same effect on me...

I think they are trying too hard to sound "intellectual" with that jazz thing and all...

This is just my opinion, though.

Besides, no one is arguing that this is groundbreaking

Well, it's just that the jazz thing inherently drives me off, not only with this band, but in general...

I don't place jazz in a high place as a genre, in general.

Plus, i quite fancy those musicians - regardless of music genre - that try to be original, while keeping the "jazz" thing (and especially its improvisations) out of the picture.

dunno if i covered you Dev.

Edit: When you give a 5/5 rating, you also imply that the music under consideration is groundbreaking to a great extent.

No, maybe you do. I hand out 5's to albums I think are really good + are classics of the genre

Thanks for the link Dev

No need to discuss what a 5 is, if Dev thinks this is a 5 then let it be. There isn't a specific sputnik manual you have to follow for rating music. I personally don't think 5s have to be groundbreaking but each to his own.

I downloaded the EP instead of the full length, but it's sweet. I'm excited to get my hands n the full length.

Hmm not to sure I dig the vocals on this one (Unfortunately felt the same way about Swarms). However I'm willing to give it time to grow since I do dig the sound overall.
