Don't get me wrong, the writing style of this review is very good.

But its just as Acre said here:

"I appreciate the very kind words. I figured that some people would disagree with my review of Red; I just never

thought it coalesced into a proper EP the way the others did, and didn't think the songs were compelling enough on

their own merit to justify their inclusion. Still, I can see how someone would love it."

This is exactly what rash reviews lead to. If this was an album of just these "red" type of songs, maybe Acre would

end up liking them after he heard more of nuances and understood them better, as he might with more than just a

couple listens. He might also not. This collection of ep's is unique in that since each is so different, and there are

so many songs, that almost everyone will be able to find something different to like in them. I can hardly take any

description of the actual music to heart simply on the basis that from a couple of listens, no one can possibly create

an accurate description or understanding of the music found within 36 songs.

Like I said before, imagine how many hours of blood, sweat, and tears went in to the creation of these songs. Does a

review written less than 24 hours after it was released possibly begin to touch on the many layers of meanings and

ideas found within this music. Impossible.

Philalethes, to clarify some of your concerns, I'd heard at least half of the material here before the whole collection was properly released, which allowed me to start working on the preliminary drafts of a review (knowing full well that the final review would be very different). I actually downloaded the whole thing almost literally as soon as it was available, and listened to the remaining songs (as well as the whole collection) for the remainder of the day. Don't get the impression that I just listened to the collection twice and published a review; I wouldn't publish this review unless I was sure about my convictions. Sometimes time isn't the biggest factor; I posted a 3/5 review for The Mars Volta's album Frances The Mute several years ago, and it took me another two years before I began to love it. Does that mean I should have waited two years before publishing a review?

I understand your concerns, but I stand by my review. If you somehow feel I didn't give the collection enough time to digest, that's your prerogative to feel that way. As for me, I've rarely felt so confident about my convictions when posting a review as with this one.

Good review. This set came out every bit as good as I was hoping for. Very impressive effort.

Great review! I don't agree on all points, but I've only had time to listen to this once so far.

Honestly, I thought this would be good. But I didn't think they had 9 eps of this quality in them. Totally blew me away with this.

As a huge TDH fan, I agree very much with this review, particularly your praise at progress. The looming electronic bass that comes in with that two note motif is awe inspiring. Ive only listened to this in its entirety once but as of right now i say 3.5 just because the songs that aren't so great stick out due to being surrounded by real, impressive efforts. I think Red works really well though. But blue is a little on the boring side. Also as far as this album lacking any progressive moments, I think we'd both agree that that's pretty much impossible to do with out mixing and muddying up the respective colors...

Also in the last paragraph "an collection" should be "a collection". Awesome awesome review.

Again, thank you all for the kind words. It's been a while since I've reviewed something for this site, glad to see I haven't completely lost the craft.

Even when I don't necessarily agree with all the points you made, this is still a fantastic, fantastic review, good job man.
