Hehe, sorry Dev. I had it simply at "dubstep" for a while ; )
|
| |
idk i get a good idea of what this sounds like by "dub techno", even if the term isnt one used ever

I agree that it does accurately describe the sound even though techno is a vague descriptor, it's just (for me) another example of people unable to accurately describe something and thus somehow feeling forced to come up with a new name for it. Like, how if a dubstep artist decided to speed up the bpm for a track it therefore must be drumstep, or how James Blake makes dubstep that apparently isn't really dubstep so it should be post dubstep. It's just as simple to say his music contains aspects of " " and " "
I'm not including Conrad in that, more the people who decided to think up the name

Hush, Deviant. Conrad "dub techno" Tao has spoken.

Yeah, I think you're right, Dev. But for me, genre tags are most useful when they do sort of conjure up a sound - it's not so much that things like "ambient dubstep" or "dub techno" actually mean anything, since they're built out of the same genres that have already been solidly established, but rather that they occasionally do provide a semi-accurate description of the sound at hand.
Which is why "post-dubstep" fails so badly as a genre tag. It doesn't really mean anything at all.

I can live with that. But now excuse me while I go and listen to some witch house

Doesn't it need 3 "4" ratings minimum?
|

Something like that.

could pull out my old account and rate it in there

i dunno this is ok but not BNM worthy if you ask me. Merciless was way better.

Little bit annoyed that after getting both this and We Stay Together I will now feel compelled to get the box set release of those two simply because there's more tracks on it
|
| |
we stay together is the better ep in my opinion
also the 'dark details' anomaly track works quite poorly here :/
|
| |
Love this but some of the tracks are kind of too repetitive. The second EP is better.
Also, coolest album cover of 2011.

have you guys heard his lp from this year 'luxury problems'? i think it's phenomenal
|

i love it
