narrow stairs just has a little too much filler to be a 4 for me.

Nice review Waior. I certainly wish you would review more.

I liked this on first listen, probably a 3.5
I'll likely end up bumping it down .5 though because Death Cab was pretty lame at Sasquatch, and these songs were part of the reason. "You Are A Tourist" was fun though.

"Every post-Transatlanticism album will forever be known as “not as good as Transatlanticism” and sadly, there is very little Death Cab can do about it."
I completely disagree... Plans was a genre-defining masterpiece and Narrow Stairs was almost as good. Everything before Transatlanticism was boring and poorly executed. Fewer bands have grown as much and improved as much as Death Cab has over the years!
Still have to give this album a few more listens though before I rate it. But I'm digging it so far.

Pos even though I disagree with some of your points. Still a very well written review! So kudos. As of right now. It's a solid 4 but it may go up or down in future listens...

it just seems like whenever you read any discussion about plans or narrow stairs people end up talking about how good Trans is. personally though, I like Plans almost as much as Trans which is why I said "It’s a shame we have to go through this once every couple of years because, in all seriousness, both Plans and Narrow Stairs were very solid releases."

This is actually a review for Anberlin "Dark is the Way..." right?

Funny, the only DCFC albums I like are Narrow Stairs and this one, specially this one. . .

"Everything before Transatlanticism was boring and poorly executed. Fewer bands have grown as much and improved as much as Death Cab has over the years!"
To each his own dude. I've been a DCFC fan since 2000 and in my opinion their trajectory since "Plans" has gone so fast downhill. Every album since just simply cannot compete with classics such as "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes", "The Photo Album", or "Transatlanticism", not to mention the old EPs they released. The ONLY thing that's improved is the bigger budget that they have now to record and release albums, and honestly I liked, no loved them when they released shitty-sounding albums but the music was something I could feel. You know the old saying though about one man's garbage being another man's treasure and all though....

Always kinda thought Death Cab was kinda boring, to be honest. Never really understood the hype for Transatlanticism. Pretty good review, Eko.

I agree to the person who said this is similar to "Radiohead-y, but poppier". Not the best release of the year, but certainly up there.
