Listening to 'Superstar' atm. I fucking love it! Look above, another edited comment of mine. ^

Thanks. It's a really great song. I've heard about this case with ripping off them by The Eagles before. The songs are really similar indeed. You'll find a lot of similar guitar solos on this album too.

nice review dude, as usual. listening to La Pistola right now -- pretty fucking rocking. gonna get this album asap.

I will try to look into this, Greg, but I've really been lacking time recently so I won't make any promises as to when exactly : )
Same here, but this sounds really good so I probably will in time (and it was released a a Dutch label, you say?). I always like your reviews, they're a great read, you keeps things relatively simple and I always get an idea of what I can expect: your eagerness to promote the lesser known bands/albums is really admirable. Consider me interested.

Yeah. Suburban Records is a Dutch label which also released Hermano's albums. Both Dave Angstrom and Kyuss' singer John Garcia were in this band. Thanks a bunch man.

So yeah, managed to check it out even sooner than I thought. All around very solid stuff, although the final track was kinda pointless imo.

I actually like the final track. It's not surprising or anything, but the lyrics are really heartfelt. It was meant to be a hidden song. In fact, I'd get rid of certain heavy tracks from the second half of the album (as I stated in the review).
|
| |
Haha, actually the last track was the only one that served as background music as I had to quickly write up some shiz, so it was also the only track where I didn't pay any notice to the lyrics, just the instrumental side. So basically, I'll be sure to carefully listen to the lyrics the next time I spin it.

Yeah. He sings about very personal stuff in this song. That's why it somehow doesn't fit to the style of this record. It's kind of reminiscent of old Supafuzz records when Dave dealt with plenty of personal issues.

I realize 4/5 might be an objective rating for this album, but I'm anything but objective so...

Album Rating: 4.0
Given that one can change a rating from a day to another, I think that a rating is more in the subjective side. This is between a 4 and a 4.5 to me.
I can't objectively decide. So I'd call it a big 4 up to now.

I encourage you to be subjective Daniel. I guess it's 4.3 for me. Highly recommended.

Cool! Bookmarked. I can't wait for their next album. They will do it again no doubt. Crooked Timber and Suicide Pact are (for me too) the ones I love the most to date.
