Haha don't worry, I was being facetious. SK is the greatest director of all time and he deserves as much love as possible.

i just stated an actual fact
here you did: Humbug is the album that divides the Arctic Monkey's fan base
here you didn't: It doesn’t matter what genre of music or artist you’re talking about, there are only 2 types of music fans: Those who welcome experimentation from their favorite artists and the ones who want them to stick with the same sound that attracted them in the first place.
For the next day you'll get a lot of comments, then the review will be ignored. Then if you write another one, it'll have it's day in the sun and the cycle continues. Keep reviewing though as I can tell you're passionate about this stuff.
ps i wasn't actually offended, but you did inadvertently launch insults at my beliefs

It's interesting that this album is so divisive within their fanbase, considering that the album is their most critically acclaimed(at least with the majority of major publications). I side with really liking it to nearly loving it. I think it's their second best effort out of the four so far.

Critical praise is in no way at all indicative of quality.

it's got a somewhat significantly lower metacritic rating than their first two albums so i don't know where you're getting your information .. also, most of those are gut reactions and it has become less critically acclaimed over time.

I should have rephrased my comment. Yes, the first two albums have a slightly better aggregated
score on say Metacritic. But the positives reviews that did come come for the Album were of a
significantly higher acclaim. Where as the reviews for the previous albums, while having a better
overall score, those positive reviews weren't as enthusiastic as the ones for Humbug.
And as for the typical comment "critical acclaim is not indicative of quality". While I agree with
that statement on a very bare bones level, one cannot deny that in bulk, praise can steer the
listener to music that is much more apt to his or her likes. Also there is a very hypocritical
emotion that comes with many peoples reactions to critical praise. When their favorite album is
backed by acclaim, then they have no problem citing the many publications. But when their opinion
differs from the mainstream consensus then they have no problem dismissing said acclaim as being
"not indicative of quality". It's not a big deal but I just get tired of hearing that cliched line
over and over again as if we are not here on a site doing the same thing mainstream critics do.

humbug was different so they were able to be verbosely document the 'maturity' of the album because they changed their sound up a bit. just like you get people who love the softer and more personal 'decemberunderground' and are able to do so very eloquently, by and large it is considered one of the weaker albums in afi's discography.
if you like this album, cool, but there is no 'significantly higher acclaim'
