I really don't see how this album could have come out any better. I've been blown away by it. It's a great album, no doubt, but I can't see how this is a classic. They've managed to make an album that could fit between Ceremony of Opposites and Passage and that's great considering where they were just five years ago, but it's not classic. They had a larger array of cool percussive elements on Passage (Jupiterian Vibe comes right to mind) and Ceremony of Opposites is referred to as 'post-black metal' by people so that has to count for something ;)

This is a really interesting mix, giving the stream a listen and while it is not superb it is quite good so far.

I actually kind of like this... perhaps I'll go back and relisten to Passage for the first time in about a year, and maybe my opinion will change.
While I'm at it, is it even worth revisiting Above, which I listened to about a year back as well?

Above is good, but it doesn't really have the typical Samael style on it. It's just high-speed industrial black metal from start to finish. Go back and revisit Ceremony of Opposites.

Alright will do. Passage is sounding better than I remember it being; this band is pretty cool sounding based off of that and this.
