Ah well in answer I have only written four reviews, mostly in this vein of music, and all have had a wide space of time in between postings. I find it hard to write about what I am not currently into/digging, not to mention describing an album as a coherent whole without creating a massive wall of text (see my Combichrist review) that most will not read.
In summation I find it hard to write here due to my desire for my writing to be accepted stylistically and grammatically. In my own time I often write vague allegorical tales, but these are really just poking fun at certain situations or people in my life.

"I find it hard to write about what I am not currently into/digging"
Same here, I need to be interested in an album (whether because it's great or sucks) to get going.

You should have a blog and fill it with your random thoughts and mannerisms in a way to create an interesting if somewhat fragmented ideas representation.

@pizzamachine: I normally won't write on it if it sucks too much as the review is written while it plays over and over through my headphones; I am trying to broaden my review scope by a bit though.
I use my Facebook for that, it's filled with things that don't make much sense unless you make substitutions/were the one being written about.
|
| |
I write the same way, its on good writing about somethin your not interested in
|
| |
I generally don't write about things i think suck. I tend to focus on the positive.

I don't get why people say bad things about it. I have 2.0 with the vocal version of Avalost (much better) and I like the atmosphere. It is typical futurepop but I will always have a big heart for that genre. The song Point Break for example is a bit slower but with a nice atmosphere.
And most song don't have the 3rd chorus that prevents them from getting old and boring too soon, at least for me.
|
| |
Nice fuckin bump wow, this one almost slipped past me. Yeah 2.0 is better, and Avalost is probably these guys' best song.
"It is typical futurepop but I will always have a big heart for that genre."
I stopped catching up with it years ago but dude saaaaame. I love the stuff from the 2000s etc.

Since one week or so I have another futurepop phase, I didn't listen to it that much anymore for years, and I don't really have new futurepop albums (the newest are still from around 2010) so I just dug out the old ones I have. VNV Nation, Rotersand, Angels & Agony, Seabound, Pride And Fall, Covenant all still very good.
Can't get enough of the album "Damn The Lie" by Absurd Minds right now, same with other albums of them. I just love all the small details in their music. I always listen only with headphones / earphones.
I also discovered "Dreamweb" (2005) by Mind.In.A.Box, never gave them a chance before really.

| |
Yeah same man, my newest ones are like 2011 at the very latest. Great picks though, I love all those guys you just mentioned. I will check out that Absurd Minds album you mentioned.
But duuuude mind.in.a.box is god tier. They're actually one of my favourite artists of all time. Make sure to check all of their albums. The first 3 are perfect.

I don't know if you know Absurd Minds. A good album to start would rather be "The Focus" like I did years ago. But maybe you already know that album.
I also like Noumenon and Serve Or Suffer, and the The Cycle EP.
But I like their lyrics. They sometimes even feel spiritual I think, and more often optimistic or positive than the average futurepop band.
|
| |
I've only heard Deception and Serve Or Suffer and thought they were ok. But I will def check the rest.
|
| |
When I first listen to Serve or Suffer it was ok but like some other albums it needed time to unfold and few weeks ago I started to like it more and more.
Some songs have a strong chorus like "Deficit Mindset" and "Interconnectedness". Sometimes an album needs time to grow on me.
They have a bandcamp site so it is easy to check all their albums out:

Yeah I know what you mean. I was never too patient when I used to listen to futurepop a lot. Now, I should start to slow things down and take the time to revisit them if they don't click first. Thanks for the link, that def makes things easier haha

That is the plan I have for months now. I already have so much music, right now I don't really need to discover anything new (or old). I'm taking it slow for a long time already. But if one of my favourite bands / artists release a new album I have to get it of course.
I am always that kind of music listener, I love to listen to certain albums a lot of times. To enjoy all the small things that happen in a song, no matter which genre (there are too many great genres btw). I love when a song or an album is rich on atmosphere.

I have so many albums downloaded on my computer, even if I like one of them, it takes months for me to come back to it sometimes because I just keep listening to new stuff. I just wanna free up space on my hard drive at this point lol.
