These guy's second album (The State) was actually not that bad, but I haven't listened to it in awhile...so I could have outgrown it. It was before they started trying write hits. Although I do recall that Chads voice is a lot sloppier (it cracks...a lot), but it sort of adds effect to the music.

He laughs at photographs because theres something weird on Joey's Head. Duh

The State was a good album. Everything afterwards has been progressively worse. These guys are what embarras me about being Canadian. They play that goddamn Photograph song non-stop here. Each time I put my fist through the radio and need to find a new one.

These guys helped me get into music, but since then...yeah they aren't very good.

I am shocked at the ratings on all the Nickleback albums as they are one of my favourite bands. I can understand someone not liking them because they have little technical skill but then again, look at most pop/rock out there. This album is still all one of my alltime favourites, its got great fast paced rock tracks like Flat On The Floor and Because of You and the rest are great ballad/rocker hybrids. This album is what got me into modern music and yes i slowly moved into heavy stuff and yes perhaps more complicated guitar work and vocalls but this stuff is still great and deserves respect. I can see no justification for such a low score as 1. I think its become "cool" to bash Nickelback but since when is music about going along with the crowd? It seems like whenever something becomes too mainstream people drop it as fast as possible. There is actually quite a bit of diversity within Nicklebacks variety of albums as anyone who has listened to them more then once would notice, so I disagree with the reviews statement “Nickelback have created a formula of writing music and for five straight albums have stuck to it, meaning they have managed to create repetitive, unoriginal, and boring music”. Also just because music sound similar to others within its genre does NOT indicate at all that it is “ripped off” or copied. With so many bands out there are bound to be similar tracks out there and quite frankly there are many bands that have tried to rip off Nickelback.

People who appreciate music that isn't mainstream, get into such a huff about bands that are popular...mainly because they're popular. If Nickelback wasn't so stinkin popular more of you would like them, I gurantee it.
