saying she can't sing is a terrible criticism
her voice might be autotuned to touch it up and get recordings done quicker but you do know that the singer has to be 80% of the way there for the program to be effective, garbage in, garbage out is a production principle that doesn't magically disappear when it comes to big big budget recordings. saying vocal effects makes things inauthentic is like criticising a guitar player for hiding behind his rack of compression and guitar pedals, dude, stop using technology to sound better, it's not real.
plus not writing her own music was touched upon in the review (beautifully, I might add).

fucking awful album. I was fully expecting to like it, but the "dubstep" is just handled so poorly and the lyrics are so so so superficial, even by her standards. Take this treasure from 'Beautiful' "You must be b-i-g/Because, you got me hypnotized/Whoever said that beauty's on the inside is a liar/'Cause, what I'm looking at right now/Would make a big girl cry/So fasten up your seatbelt/It's gon' be a bumpy ride" just so so bad.
To each their own I guess, but this is one of the worst albums I've heard in a long long time. I miss the days of hit me baby one more time.
great review though of course.

Lol at the 3.5s. At any rate, good review, Rudy, I just wholeheartedly disagree with it. Will post mine as soon as I can.

it's a fair criticism because it's true.
no it's a terrible one I already went into an elaborate and unquestionably objective explanation of this

there's really not much dubstep here and i don't see anything hideously wrong with it. also coming to a spears album expecting biting lyricism is a bit foolish. dk how you can say "baby one more time" had exponentially better lyrics.

yah I used the quotes around dubstep because I was only 50% sure that was correct. in either case, the woms/bleep n bloops didnt sound genuine to me at all, it just sounds like they were cashing in on a trend. and I didn't expect biting lyricism, I was expecting mediocrity. she's never had good lyrics, but I can't remember anything nearly as shitty as that bit I quoted on her older stuff.
I dont know, I just really thought she was gonna pull off a great album here and I was just disgusted with most of what I heard.

I almost want to listen to this, but ultimately, I will not

Definitely jumped the gun on this one - this is not very good. The lyrics really kill this album.

I hate the fact that her latest album is titled "femme fatal"... she probably doesn't even know what the definition of a femme fatal IS! And she certainly doesn't embody the definition in the slightest...
I highly doubt she's ever read a novel featuring a femme fatal... or even seen a movie with that kind of character depth. Grrrr...
