The singer is new but not new to the band. He's just the lead guitarist who founded the band.

the fact that he's playing some of those riffs while growling is pretty nuts

No kidding, dude had mad talent when he kept his mouth shut and now look. Easily one of the most talented guys in young metal today.

So so so so so good. The only people who are going to dislike this are the ever-predictable old-school thrash-loving trad metal purists who still seem to inexplicably believe that metal reached its height in the 80's with Testament's delightfully overrated Souls of Black, long before any extreme metaller had the nerve to even think about progressing in any way. And no one who is even remotely open-minded or forward-thinking tends to care about their outdated "death to false thrash" idiocy.
Yes. I'm a self-confessed Sylosis fanboy, and I don't care.

By the way people, they haven't brought anyone new into the band. The new vocalist is actually the lead guitarist. After the old guy left, between touring and recording the band didn't have time to audition a replacement, so the guitarist took his place. Whether it's a permanent arrangement or they'll hire a full-time vocalist for their next album remains to be seen.
Edit: Just noticed someone already said this but with less waffling. Ya, I'm retarded.

"I'm a self-confessed Sylosis fanboy, and I don't care"
whatever makes you happy

This is definatley a step up musically from Conclusion Of An Age, I just love the way the tracks change. Some seriously good stuff on here, and Josh is just like... Damn I wish I was as talented as him. For me, this is a four.

if this was shorter it would be an easy 5

Not as good as conclusion of an ages....In fact, I don't like this cd so far. Big dissapointment

I'd say the only thing bringing this album down is the vocals. Everything else is stellar.
My rating is pretty biased but I'll always be biased towards Sylosis because I absolutely love the guitar work.
