I'm quite surprised by the generally positive response this has been getting here, for me it's not a patch on Accelerate, and clearly nowhere near their best works.

I think I prefer this to Accelerate actually, slightly, but it's safe to say they won't be doing anything that actually sounds fresh anymore. It's nice and enjoyable for what it is. Discoverer and Überlin are my favs after a few listens.

I wasn't expecting this to be particularly fresh or exciting, but for me it misses the energy and enthusiasm that made Accelerate their best in years. Discoverer is a great song though, very Document-esque.

Looking back on the comment I made last night, & after listening to the album... I realised that I underestimated this album hugely.
Damn good stuff, apart from Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter... that one is something this album could have done without

Excellent review, just wish I could agree. I find most of this album painfully average. I like "Discoverer", "Mine Smells Like Honey" and "That Someone is You", but more than those I remember the really awful tracks like "Alligator" and (yup) "Blue". I'll always love these guys, but just not this album.
