I love all of it except for the 10 minute "sound collage" in the last part of Cicatriz. Still, I can live with it because I'm a big advocate for experimentation and freedom of expression. Still, I'd much rather hear the band jam on rather than listen to random people talking.

I declare this a 3.5 outta 5.

Its pretty cool but sometimes a little tiring. Citariz is better on here than on De-Loused.

people don't seem to appreciate this cd for all its worth, people don't really understand that, about 70 percent of this album, was made up on the spot, thats how TMV plays live, I can almost gaurantee the people who gave this album great reviews are the people who have seen the genius that is Mars Volta live in concert. no 2 shows are ever the same but every single one will blow you away

(I've seen The Mars Volta play live twice, songs like Cassandra Gemini go on for about an hour, and songs like take the veil for about a half an hour, The Mars Volta is the music that only musicians can truly appreciate)

This CD is awesome, it would have been better with some FtM songs though. Also I thought at a few points Cedric's voice wasn't up to much, but overall a great CD. Also the cover says "Over 70 minutes of music!" When actually about half of it is classic TMV noise, hard to call music. This Message Edited On 04.08.06

I give this album a solid 4. I am a big fan of the mars volta and i know as well as anyone that some of the material is hard to get through on this cd and frances the mute, but the high points really make up for it. I was a bit disappointed with the track listing as well, but at least half of the material is stuff not heard on either of their LPs and has kind of a different, funkier sound. Also, the live version of concertina is undoubtedly better than the tremulant version.

Doesn't Cedrics off-key singing bother anyone? I love the band, and what I've heard off of Scabdates is cool, but Cedric is off, a lot.

Did you ever stop to think that the rest of the band was out of key?

personally from a musicians point of view, i think that this was a phenominal moment for the mars volta. i am a little biased because they're my favorite band, but this is the mars volta in its rawest form, live. to be able to pull of songs as complicated as theirs is one thing, but to never play it the same way twice is another. the mars volta is the next big thing. in my opinion they are the incubating led zeppelin of our time as far as musical progressivism is concerned. oh yea, and if you spell NO PARKING backwards, it's G-NI-KRAP-ON.

oh yea and MR. ANTOOON, Cedric doesn't go out of key when he sings, unless you consider intentional accidentals (?) to be heretical.

Is this worth getting if I have the three studio releases (plus Tremulant)? It sonds like it by this review. I saw TMV live in 2003 supporting A Perfect Circle. They actually blew APC, the band I came to see, out of the water. Anyway, your review makes it sound worth it. The other reviewer blasted it, but I think I agree with your points, as to what I like in an album. Thanks - Let's here for contrasting views in reviews.
