fr33convict, I can understand your views, but I can give my own reasoning to each of those points you brought
up.
1. Lars used to use some highly technical double bass drum patterns (dyer's eve and battery I think are good
examples).
2. Time changes are on every early album, on songs like Ride The Lightning, The Four Horsemen, Leper Messiah, etc
(Let me know if I'm confusing it for something else)
3. I don't think you can say that their hearts weren't in it anymore was the only reason. That could be a good reason,
but remember that Bob Rock held a lot of influence over Metallica, who were trying to keep their success.
4. I like the fast solos Metallica used on songs like One and Master of Puppets, but besides that, the first RTL solo
and the Fade To Black solo are really good too.
This is what I was thinking when I came in to review this album, and it may be different from your thoughts, but if
you don't agree, write your own review.
why didn't you just put that in the review in the first place man

So um dude..
1. No one's subscribing to your reviews, so don't give us " the concept that entered my mind while reviewing Iron Maiden entered into my mind again..."...presume that no one read your last review, and just tell us what that concept is.
2. Get rid of stuff like..."As you keep reading, please bear in mind that I do not believe that “classic” Metallica ceased to exist past 1990." Sentences like these just make you feel completely amateurish. Instead you could write something like "classic Metallic did not cease to exist past 1990 but...etc." Same effect, but establishes credibility.
3. Except for limited cases, get rid of the "I" statements, things like "In my opinion" and "I enjoyed"..write from the reader's perspective, not you're own. Again, it automatically makes you look amateurish.
4. Get rid of the edit. That should already be obvious by reading the review, and if you don't think it is, fix the review.
finally, it's obvious that you are a very solid writer, and if your willing to polish it up a little, you could potentially be fantastic. Not a POS for me, but definitely not a NEG. I look forward to reading your next review.

1. There's nothing technical about those song's double bass at all it's just really fucking fast. Double bass doesn't jive well with Alternative/Rock.
2. Leper Messiah switches to thirds which is essentially a really odd way of playing the same time signature as you where before but I see what your saying. The Four Horsemen stays in 6/8 throughout but switches to a gallop on the guitar which might be what you're thinking of. Ride the Lightning just does a double time I'm pretty sure. Again, you'll find you would like this even less with these things on this album.
3. Fair enough. I just think saying a band sold out is dumb.
4. Fast does not mean it's hard. I figured out most of the Kill 'Em All - Master solos by ear. Kirk has always played pretty straight pentatonic runs. His most technically impressive solo album was Death Magnetic since he actually does a few modal runs, etc.,.

To everyone out there: I must apologize for the content of my review. I'm obviously ignorant to the reasons why people like this album, and to be honest, I reviewed Load after only one listen. All I know is what people have claimed online, so next time, I'll spend more time listening to music and doing background research on what I'm listening to. For now, I still stand by my rating based on what I heard, but just remember a rating change and a new review is possible for the future.

You don't need to take the reasons why people like this into consideration! It is your review and fuck them if they don't agree. The problem with this review is a pretty awkward read, and there are a of things you state that are simply wrong... That said, this is not a bad review by any means so I will not neg.

Review's actually pretty well written. I actually quite like this album, much better than Reload IMO.

Album Rating: 4.0
Review's decently written, and you shouldn't apologize for the rating. But next time you do a review, listen to the album multiple times so it can sink in. Load's definitely (IMO, at least) one of the better Metallica albums. Bleeding Me is one of their best songs.

Yeah, I can actually look past the whole "this isn't how metallica should sound" argument and recognize this as a relatively decent rock album
This.
People that say Load sucks because it doesn't sound like other albums look foolish. If they say it sucks because they don't like the music, then okay...but comparative judgement is so ignorant.

If you take Load out of the Metallica context, you'll realize that as a rock album, it's very well produced and very good.
