Violator is genius and all but this is where it really is for me. Complete triumph of soul. DM at their emotional peak.

I've always felt that the "faith" and "devotion" parts of the content were not references to God or any kind of religion exatcly; I think the main theme of the album is the equality of the terms "God" and "Love". As a non-religious person myself I still can get behind this maudlin sentiment. And truly, what is real love without faith in each other or devotion to each other?

In that respect I've also always viewed "In Your Room" as the centerpiece of the album. Not just because it's literally in the middle of the record but because it combines passionate lyricism of sexual nature with an almost religious, awe-inspiring extatic sound.

Still like Violator more, but this is very, very close.
