Also, yesterday I listened to his new album "Antidoron" (2018) for the first time, it's absolutely awesome! What great grey-november feeling it has! Great song structures as well.
Bloc you should get it.
Listening to it for the 3rd time today, normally I never listen to an album more than once a day.

Hey dude I am glad you messaged me, I didn't see this comment before.
I had no idea they had a new album out already, but it's perfect timing that you told me. Now that it's getting colder this futurepop stuff starts to sound better I agree haha. I will get a copy asap

Yes and I love the weather today here, no minute of sun, some rain and usually high fog, my dream weather for autumn / fall, also my favourite season by far. Can't wait till it's november!
well I don't know A Sign Of Life yet but I love Les Chansons Neurotiques and Gelb is solid. But so far Antidoron tops all of them atmosphere-wise. And I myself didn't know about this album till days ago (released almost a year ago already).
|
| |
Whoa the new one tops both Gelb and Chansons? Those are pretty big shoes to fill, and tbh I haven't heard a decent futurepop album in the past 5 or so years so now I'm really looking forward to hearing it.
A Sign Of Life was good too, def give it a listen. Silence, Illusion Of Home, and some others are all fantastic tracks on it.

I don't find Gelb that great, the song structures in many songs sound a bit lazy to me, many simple and predictable 3 chorus songs, that's where I like Chansons and the new one much more. And on the new album there are many songs that touch me and it just connects with me.
But I always dive into a newly discovered album with zero expectation and I'm not disappointed very easily.

VNV Nation also released an album in 2018 that was surprisingly solid too

I don't know it yet but I still love Matter + Form (yes, still a classic to me and my first electronic album ever in dec 2005 next to Fractured - Only Human Remains, both changed everything for me back then and were very influential for my music taste), Futureperfect and Empires and many compilation songs like Honour 2003, Secondskin (Spoken) and Tempest.
I really feel the atmosphere of all new Neuroticfish songs, some even give me tears.

Yeah the new Neuroticfish album is surprisingly mature. They don't seem to focus on the club aspect as much, there's much more attention to the lyrics and atmosphere.

Yes take the songs Colourblind, Lovely Walls and Challenge You for example, all 3 don't really have a clear and noticeable chorus (I like that unpredictability), but the atmosphere and the melodies really are what make them special, Lovely Walls for example is haunting, melancholic and still beautiful and it gives me tears.
Compared to 2018 I discovered much more albums in 2019 (even if only very few are really new), and Antidoron will surely be up there if I make a best albums of 2019 list. To me it's an album perfect for if I feel depressed, melancholic or if I just want to enjoy grey autumn days.

Favourite songs list of Antidoron (2018) so far:
1. I Am Here
1. Walk Alone
1. Fluchtreflex
4. Lovely Walls
(those 4 give me many tears everytime but in a positive way)
5. Invisible
6. What Is Wrong
7. Fail To Disagree
7. Colourblind
9. Honesty
9. Challenge You
9. Hold Of Me
12. Hysteria
Even Hysteria is still very good. Yes I too can't believe how atmospheric and mature it is, and it's still as magic as after the first few listens. Also to me this album has a northern feeling somehow, makes me imagine I'm in Scotland in november. Or anywhere else on the british isles.

Check out A Sign Of Life when you get a chance. I would call it a mix between Antidoron and his earlier stuff. Catchy and clubby, but a bit more mature sounding.

Yeah maybe I will do that this year but not the next 2 months I think. Antidoron still is very dominant in my ears and it surely will rule the whole autumn through. I am always a bit slower with albums of the same artist, I don't like to discover 2 albums of the same artist at the same time, I like to concentrate on one.
|
| |
Ah yeah I know what you mean. For me it depends on the album, sometimes all I need is a day in between to go from one album to the next.
Btw, did you hear the single for Fluchtreflex? It's got some excellent remixes of that song plus one for Hysteria.

No I don't know it yet but I will check it out.
Btw Antidoron is number 4 in my new list, my albums I love to listen to with november-like atmosphere (Les Chansons Neurotiques is there too!). Of course there are many futurepop albums but also post-punk and darkwave and others.
I'm glad you can create as many lists as you want, it's a great function so I can honour the albums that are important and influential in my own music world.

You can take a look at my new list if you like:

You sure will see some familiar albums there.
I'm already looking forward to my best discoveries in 2019 list in december, next 3 months will be awesome to still discover new and old albums. I already discovered much more albums this year than the few years before.

That list is godly, post-punk and futurepop are def November jams. East coast hip hop too, if you're into that kind of thing

I wish Neuroticfish could see my list he can be proud of his new album! I wish the album could get much more attention, at least in my music world it gets it that's what counts.
I hava a phase right now, I want to discover many more albums of other artists right now so that my best albums of 2019 list can be as long as possible. I want to make my next 3 months as awesome as I can.
About november darkwave too but it was bigger in europe (mid 80's to mid 90's) especially here in germany, I'm proud many great darkwave bands come from here. But that genre can make me sad and melancholic sometimes.
Well I only listen to 2 rap albums so far, Kool Keith - Black Elvis/Lost In Space (very weird and quirky album with great and imaginative lyrics) and Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full. But normally rap isn't really for me, too much fast talking and lyrics for me.

it's ok again, sometimes I am feeling that way. But right now the last discovered albums make me feel extremely good. And unexpected heavy rain outside and it's VERY cold. I love it and look forward to coming night, I don't have to go to work the next two days (but monday again) so I can enjoy being lazy in bed under a warm blanket.
