of a band who’s folk foundations
whose*. Otherwise, definitely one of your finer pieces of work, I'm pretty impressed. Cuddling after sex is absolutely what this album is, nailed that on the head.
also yeah i don't listen to american music anymore and this blows, go manchester

*inserts standardly-deserved pos for SowingSeason review*
Question: would it be unwise to listen to this if I haven't heard anything else by them?

Nice review Sowing.

Irving: This is amazing, but it is hard to say if it is the best starting point. I am going to say start with The Crane Wife, simply because that is where I started
Waior: Thank you for noticing that, I fixed it. And woo america boo manchester!
Slum: Yea probably
Nagrarok: I'll answer your question the same way I answered Irving's. You'd probably enjoy this right off the bat, but I'd still recommend starting with The Crane Wife, or maybe even The Hazards of Love

Okay, I promised Waior a whole while ago I'd listen to Hazards of Love anyway, so I'll look into The Crane Wife, that, and this.

Cool man. At the same time though if you don't like Hazards don't write this off, they are very different.

I'll just move up chronologically; I remember from Waior's review on THOL that it's pretty huge an album, so I'll be listening to TCW first. Don't know when I'll have/make time for it but I'll let you know what I think.

If The Decemberists have abandoned their proggy side, I am not hurried to listen to this. Great review, SS.

I'm thinking about bumping this up to a 4. I'm still a bit dissapointed about the lack of pretentiousness but the songs themselves have grown on me quite a bit.

this has been on our rotation list at work, it has some really good songs, but in my opinion it fails to go beyond a 3 to me
Edit: ill give it a 3.5 just cause i critique things too hard.

Haven't bothered with this album since it leaked until today.
Idk. I've been listening to a lot of Ray Lamontagne and Bright Eyes lately, so i could see this fitting into a regular rotation on my iPod. Liking it a lot more than i initially did.
