He's probably below average. There's a few videos on youtube of him giving guitar lessons that are absolutely hilarious (firstly because he's not that great, but secondly he's actually a cool dude).

He's not a bad guitarist by any means, but I wouldn't call him great. His work on Sons of Northern Darkness and At the Heart of Winter is catchy as hell, but those are the only two albums he really stands out on guitar wise.
